We hope you're enjoying
the summer and staying cool!
Discussions
about the future of the Tenley-Friendship Library are still happening. We don't know if the Roadside
proposal is the best path for our community to choose, but we're
excited about the dialog it sparked. We hope that the city continues
to work closely with the community prior to making a decision, unlike
what happened with the West
End Library site.
If
you weren't able to attend the June 25th public meeting, a
Northwest
Current article summarized what happened. The
next community meeting will be held by DC Public Libraries (DCPL):

about the
Future of the Library

We hope you will engage
in the community conversation about the future of the library. Even if you've
already done so, please send
an email to Councilmember Mary Cheh and our elected officials.
Tell them what you think -- they want to know!
Ward 3 Vision supports:
- Serious consideration of Roadside's
proposal and others like it by the community and our
city leaders before our window of opportunity is lost.
- The idea of a mixed use development on
this valuable land so close to the Tenleytown
Metro station.
- The idea of a public private partnership that
could give us a better library facility and a modernized Janney
Elementary School on a guaranteed timeline while
significantly contributing to our neighborhood.
- Imagining this corner to
live up to its potential as the heart of Tenleytown -- the intersection
of Wisconsin and Albemarle Streets.
For more information about the Roadside proposal,
