In case you missed it!
We were excited to see Ward 3 Vision
featured in a story
on the front page of the Washington Post on Saturday.
The article
focuses on neighborhood sentiment surrounding Akridge's proposal
for redeveloping the used car lot at 5220
Wisconsin Avenue. The Zoning
Commission held a public hearing on the proposal in April, and
we've heard the Commission may vote on it next month.
We all recognize the need to engage in an
open, community-wide conversation about bringing new life and
vibrancy to Wisconsin Avenue, and it's unfortunate that
the public debate can be divisive.
We
look forward to helping foster a dialog about how we can
guide redevelopment to:
- Provide
the kinds of retail and services many residents desire,
- Enhance
and create public spaces that bring us together where
they are lacking or poorly designed,
- Improve
our community assets including schools and libraries,
- Create more
housing choices,
- Tame traffic
with improved pedestrian safety, better pedestrian and bicycle
facilities, and improved parking management, and
- Preserve our existing residential neighborhoods.
What do you think? Write
a letter to the editor and send it to the Washington
Post, the Post's DC Extra
section, or the Northwest
Current. Be
sure to include your address and phone number.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Perring

This
is a great opportunity to voice your support for a public private

the Roadside
proposal and encourage other developers to submit
proposals.
